In the Stars

The brisk air greeted me as I stepped through the door
Walking outside to have a talk with God
I stared up to see many stars
Like pieces of shattered glass they shone
I saw myself in the stars that night

Looking up at the brightest stars, I fell to my knees
My head fell to my hands, and I wept another star
Which didn't exist before, but it does now
It's all so far from me and so scattered
My will too weak to pick me up

If I could only be so much as to love myself
Maybe it'd be different enough to go on
Distance is so distorted, the Moon looks to be touched
But I reach and it's not there or anywhere near
Rather out of touch, and I'll never come close
